Goose Island live oak:
  (left-most two pens) The oldest tree in Texas (more than 1,000 years old) and the largest live oak in Texas, from Goose Island State Park near Aransas Pass.

National Champion mesquite:  (third pen from left) Largest mesquite tree in the United States, growing in Texas.

White oak from the Texas State Capitol:  (fourth and fifth pens from left) Lovely white oak wood from molding removed from the Capitol.

Ancient Kauri Forest in New Zealand:  (sixth through ninth pens from left) Trees that were pushed into salt brine during the Ice Age.  This wood has been proven to be 30,000-50,000 years old. Note variations in color, grain pattern.  These pens are iridescent!

Governor James Hogg pecan:  (right-most three pens) Governor Hogg was responsible for the pecan being named our Texas State Tree.  He personally planted this pecan tree on the grounds of the State Capitol 100 years ago.  Note variation in colors, grain patterns.
