Dyed box elder burl has a wonderfully variable pattern of grains.  A burl is a large, gnarly growth on the trunk of a tree. I cut these pieces from several large burls. While they were being stabilized, I asked that the various colors (including black) be pulled in by vacuum pressure.  An undyed piece is shown near the middle of the row.
