Pens - Hackberry

Spalted hackberry, McKinney
This old hackberry tree was devastated by mistletoe.  Its stump is still visible on Waddill Street in a historic part of old McKinney. These pens vary somewhat, but all will show marble-like patterns of spalting.  This is one of Neil’s favorite woods to turn, if just for the symbolism of taking something that no one values and turning it into a handsome piece of art.
