Question: How do I store my caladium bulbs for next year?

Answer: Most gardeners only try this once. It's too much trouble for the rewards you may or may not get. Dig the tubers once their tops have dried and fallen to the ground, but certainly before the first hard freeze. Lay them out on newspaper in the garage for several days. Do not wash them beforehand. Dust them with fungicide, then place them in single layers in flats filled with dry perlite or sawdust. Do not allow them to touch one another. Store them at 60 to 65 degrees until mid-April planting.
